History Major Morgan Ellison Receives Dean's Challenge Award

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences has named History major Morgan Ellison as one of the undergraduate recipients of the Dean's Challenge Awards. These awards recognize students, both graduate and undergraduate, who have excelled while making academically challenging choices in their education. The recipients of the awards receive a stipend, funded by the college, to assist with their educational expenses.

Ms. Ellison is a senior also majoring in Russian and Eurasian studies. She works at the Mason Global Center and, through student groups such as Mason U and Honors College Connects, has been involved with community outreach giving underprivileged grade school students exposure to college. She has received a research grant from the OSCAR Students as Scholars program and will be researching Russian Theosophy and Russian national identity at the turn of the century. She has studied abroad twice, first in Turkey then in Hungary, and hopes to one day work in a Russia-centric historical archive.
