Ph.D. Student Hired by Smithsonian

Lindsey Bestebreurtje is currently working on her dissertation, on African American communities in Northern Virginia in the twentieth century. Lindsey has extensive experience a public historian and has worked at the Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media. She has joined the Smithsonian's Museum of African American history, currently under construction on the national mall, as  research assistant under the department of Curatorial Affairs.

The position involves researching the history of objects for the collection, establishing criteria for their conservation, and collaborating in the production of exhibit text.
