BAM Art History

Joy is a part of the BAM program for art history. He will finish his Bachelors in May, and hopefully complete his Masters in May 2024. He was inspired to become an art history major by taking his first classes in art history with Dr. DeCaroli and Dr. Williamson. He has worked as a research assistant for the Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art, and the Roy Rosenzweig Center of History and New Media. Joy hopes to apply for a Ph.D. program this fall, and pursue a career in museum curation or as a professor.

Gabrielle Walker

BA Art History

Gabrielle Walker is a graduating senior double majoring in art history and Spanish. This year, she served as the Art History department’s Major Representative and worked as a Research Assistant for Mobile Subjects, Contrapuntal Modernisms, a research project that highlights Latin American artists working in the postwar period. Her research paper Momentum and Memory on Monument Avenue which mapped protest of Confederate monuments, was selected to be presented at the SUNY New Paltz Research Symposium. Alongside her academic achievements, she is also a Resident Assistant on campus and has served as Education chair of George Mason’s NAACP chapter. This summer, Gabrielle will be interning at the Chrysler Museum of Art in their Curation department where she will be focusing on Modern and Contemporary art narratives. She would like to thank all her professors for their continued support and mentorship throughout her journey at George Mason University.
