The atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki created a divide in world history. Human beings were suddenly in possession of a weapon that was capable of destroying all life on earth. This course is an inquiry into how this revolutionary occurrence shaped the Cold War, and was portrayed in films and literature around the world. Special focus on Hiroshima bombing, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Reagan-Gorbachev Reykjavik Nuclear Summit in Iceland.
Satisfies the general education requirement in global understanding.
