Section Information for Spring 2016
This course explores the structure, history and meaning of architecture. Beginning with Stonehenge and ending up at the newly rebuilt World Trade Center, this course explores architectural style and social context, all the while asking ourselves how buildings stand up. In the 20th century, we will also consider issues such as the environment, the view from the windshield, and architectural practice. The result is a survey course that teaches the history, cultural significance, and beauty of architecture from around the world.
