This course examines twentieth-century trends in historical analysis. We will discuss the way that historians choose and interpret their sources, the elements that affect their interpretations, and how and why these interpretations have developed and changed. The written assignments will include blog posts based on the weekly readings, two 5-7 page book reviews (each one will count as 20% of the final grade) and a 12-15 page historiographical essay (40% of the grade). Participation in class discussions is very important and will count as 20% of the grade.
