Michael O’Malley

Associate Professor

O’Malley received his BA from Temple University and his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. His dissertation was published as Keeping Watch: A History of American Time. He is co-editor, with James Cook and Lawrence Glickman, of The State of Cultural History (forthcoming 2008). Other publications include “Specie and Species: Race and the Money Question in 19th century America.” He does extensive work in digital media through the Center for History and New Media. O’Malley is an amateur musician.

Research Interests

History of money, value and exchange, history of music and recording technology, history of criminology. Digital music production, digital pedagogy.
