Rebecca Scales

Western Civilization Postdoctoral Fellow

Rebecca Scales holds a B.A. in History and French from Hollins College (1998) and a Ph.D. in History from Rutgers University (2007) and specializes in the cultural and political history of Modern Europe. Her manuscript, “Sounding the Nation: Radio and the Politics of Auditory Culture in Interwar France” examines how radio broadcasting transformed mass politics in France during decades between the world wars. Her article, “Radio Broadcasting, Disabled Veterans, and the Politics of National Recovery in Interwar France” is forthcoming in French Historical Studies (2008).
