Sean Takats

Assistant Professor

Takats received his bachelor’s degree from Yale and his doctorate from the University of Michigan, where his dissertation focused on the professionalization of cooking among domestic servants in eighteenth-century France. He has lectured and written extensively on literacy, the history of work, domestic architecture, the history of medicine, and the evolution of taste as a cultural category. Takats is also Associate Director of Research Projects at the Center for History and New Media.
