Explore the links on the left for answers to many of your questions. Empower yourself with information and get familiar with using your degree evaluation. But don't let any of this admirable autonomy substitute for checking in regularly with your academic advisor! Our program's undergraduate director, undergraduate coordinator, and your assigned faculty advisor are all here to help you reach your academic goals.

Advisor assignments are below. Please see your advisor’s faculty webpage for location and office hours. Before you see your advisor, print out and bring a copy of your degree evaluation from Patriot Web (step-by-step instructions).

Your advisor has been assigned by the first letter of your last name and by program, as follows:

A-D: For Fall 2015, Dr. Jennifer Ritterhouse (see below) or Ms. Carrie Grabo (cgrabo1@gmu.edu); beginning Spring 2016, Dr. Jane Hooper

E-J, all minors, ROTC cadets, & students who began at Mason before Fall 2012 (i.e., those using CAPP instead of DegreeWorks): Dr. Jennifer Ritterhouse, jritterh@gmu.edu

K-Q: Dr. Benjamin Cowan, bcowan2@gmu.edu

R-Z: Dr. Samuel Collins, scolline@gmu.edu

See your advisor for general academic advising and scheduling issues. In addition to being an academic advisor, Dr. Ritterhouse (above) is the History Undergraduate Director. You should see her for such matters as:

  • Major and minor requirements
  • Declaration of major or minor in History
  • Academic Problems (probation, suspension, etc.)
  • Study Abroad
  • Course substitutions or waivers
  • Course Elsewhere requests
  • Graduation Approval
