Journal of Social History publishes special issue on music history

The Journal of Social History is a top-tier historical journal that is housed in the Department of History and Art History at Mason.  Over the years, the journal has often been at the vanguard of new approaches and methodologies within the historical discipline.  The current issue of the journal offers an example.  The issue is devoted to the field of Music History, a field that deals with an area of life that is central to the human experience but has received relatively little attention from academic historians.  Matt Karush, the editor-in-chief of the journal, has written a blog post that makes the case for the importance of music history and explains the focus of the special issue.  Click here to see the contents of the journal issue.
