Section Information for Fall 2021
In this course, we will explore the sweeping historical changes that mark human civilization. We will examine a number of cultural, political, and economic landscapes as these have evolved, from King Hammurabi’s rule over Babylon to our own 21stcentury. We will study the role of religion, industrialization, political structures, economic ideologies, ideals of democracy, and the role of public space through the examination of primary source documents. By the end of the semester, students will have gained the critical thinking skills necessary to assess global change over time and compare societies across time and place.
