Section Information for Spring 2019

This course provides history majors with a comprehensive overview of the research skills and tools they need to be successful in their upper division courses, especially HIST 499. Students will learn those skills and about those tools by engaging in a local public history project centered on the many family cemeteries that dot the landscape of Northern Virginia, each of which is a historic site. This section of HIST 300 places a particular emphasis on digital public history and so is especially appropriate for students considering or pursuing the digital or public history concentrations in the major.
