Explores the role of museums, through presentations by key museum personnel and discussion of required readings. Administrators, curators, conservators, educators, editors, among others, work with students to expand their knowledge of how museums function.

ARTH 660 001 is restricted to admitted students in history of decorative arts. All others should contact arthistorygrad@gmu.edu for permission to enroll. This section meets at the Smithsonian Institution.

Credits: 3

Explores the role of museums, through presentations by key museum personnel and discussion of required readings. Administrators, curators, conservators, educators, editors, among others, work with students to expand their knowledge of how museums function. Notes: May be repeated for credit when topic is different. May be repeated within the term for a maximum 24 credits.
Registration Restrictions:

Enrollment limited to students with a class of Advanced to Candidacy, Graduate, Non Degree or Senior Plus.

Enrollment is limited to students with a major in History of Decorative Arts.

Enrollment is limited to Graduate, Non-Degree or Undergraduate level students.

Students in a Non-Degree Undergraduate degree may not enroll.
