Section Information for Fall 2022
This hybrid introductory course surveys major developments in Western art from the early Renaissance through the twentieth century. It examines representative works of art from major artists, cultures, periods, artistic contexts and styles. This course engages learning through reading assignments, illustrated lectures, class discussions, a DC museum visit, assessments, and a short research project focused on one work of art in a DC Museum. This course meets in person every Tuesday and synchronously online every Thursday. This course has no prerequisites and welcomes students without prior knowledge of Art History.
ARTH 201 002 is a hybrid section that meets one day on campus and the other day online synchronously.
