Section Information for Spring 2023
This introductory course surveys major developments in Western art from the early Renaissance through the twentieth century. It examines representative works of art from major artists, cultures, periods, artistic contexts and styles. This course engages learning through reading assignments, illustrated lectures, class discussions, a DC museum visit, assessments, and a short research project focused on one work of art in a DC Museum. This course has no prerequisites and welcomes students without prior knowledge of art history.
