Section Information for Fall 2011

This course surveys the often quarrelsome and not always “special relationship” between the British and American peoples from the colonial period and revolution to the military and political alliances of the two major English-speaking powers of the 20th century. It will also chart the cross-cultural influences that both nations have had on one another from the anti-slavery movement to the impact of popular music, film and television as both societies have reflected one another even as they often go their own separate ways.
