History with a very human face. The story of the American presidency, brought to life through the stories of 42 men who have occupied the nation’s highest office – related by Richard Norton Smith, acclaimed presidential historian and biographer, past director of five presidential libraries and a familiar face to viewers of C-SPAN and The News Hour with Jim Lehrer. Students will be introduced to classic texts and have plenty of opportunity for lively classroom discussion. They will be expected to take two quizzes and write one essay. There will also be at least one trip to a presidential home or museum in the Washington area.
