Era of revolutionary activity from 19th century to end of 1920s, with emphasis on Russian Revolutions of 1917. Explores why revolutionary situation developed; political, social, and cultural issues at stake; why it took various forms; and revolution's contribution to nature of Soviet state and post-Soviet problems. Limited to three attempts.
