J. Clarke Bursley is a doctoral candidate in history and a graduate affiliate at George Mason University’s Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media. He received his bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, an M.A. in National Security Affairs with a concentration in East Asia/Pacific regional studies at the Naval Postgraduate School, and graduated from Japan’s National Institute for Defense Studies (U.S. National War College equivalent).
