History has always been my favorite academic subject, so I thought it would be a good choice for a major. I picked my minor because music has been a hobby of mine for the past few years, and I wanted to learn more about the technology side.
I have become a much better writer, in my opinion. All of my history courses had a great deal of writing, so I was able to improve over the course of my program.
Completing my paper for HIST 499 (Senior Seminar) was a very rewarding moment for me, because it was a full academic article, as opposed to a small paper, and it was a great experience doing all the research and writing for it.
All my professors have been excellent here at Mason, so I can't really give any specific examples.
Time management is probably the biggest skill you will need in college, especially if your program involves a lot of research and writing like history.
I am still weighing my options for long term plans, but I plan to continue working at my job at Mason's Fiscal Services for the foreseeable future.
