Rebecca Erbelding

A history doctoral student, Rebecca Erbelding is focusing her dissertation on the history of the War Refugee Board. She is exploring the touchy ethical issues around the US response to the Holocaust.

Her 2007 discovery and analysis of a photo album of an SS guard at the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp created a media stir and was featured in a New Yorker article. She drew on the new media element of Mason's doctoral program to create an online exhibit about the album.

Rebecca received her MA in history from George Mason University in 2006.

Because of her distinguished accomplishments, Rebecca was awarded the Dean's Challenge Fellowship for 2010-2011.
