Author Visits Mills Kelly’s Class on the History of the Appalachian Trail

On Thursday, September 28, Jeffrey Ryan, the author of Blazing Ahead: Benton MacKaye, Myron Avery, and the Rivalry That Built the Appalachian Trail, spoke to students in Professor Mills Kelly's course on the history of the Appalachian Trail. Ryan's talk and the ensuing Q/A with students was focused on the researching and writing of his book and how he found his way to this topic. His presentation took place in the context of one of the Department's new Public Digital History courses that help students fulfill the requirements for the Digital and Public History concentrations in the major.
