A recent Washington Post article features the research of Dr. Ray Clark, who completed his History PhD from Mason in 2016. Clark’s dissertation focused on the history of Washington Dulles Airport. While conducting his research, he came across an incident in which Helen Nash, an African American high school English teacher, was turned away from the airport’s terrace restaurant and forced to eat in the basement cafeteria. Clark will place this story in broader historical conference in a paper he will present at the D.C. History Conference.
