Report on Student Projects
Lillian Warren’s study included this painting: Home, Robert. General Lord Cornwallis Receiving Tipu Sultan's Sons as Hostages, 1793. National Army Museum, Global Role Gallery.

Student research in Art History courses during the 2025-2026 academic year reflects a wide range of topics, methods, and geographic focus. Examples include Lillian Warren’s analysis of colonial representations of Tipu Sultan in English painting from Dr. Robert DeCaroli’s Art of Colonial India (ARTH 482, Spring 2025); Meryem Tanis’s study of the modern reception of ancient Egypt in Dr. Jacquelyn Williamson’s Curating an Exhibit (ARTH 595, Fall 2025); and Melicia Garcia Corona’s examination of early photography of women across the Indian Ocean World from Dr. Deepthi Murali’s Arts of the Indian Ocean World (ARTH 599, Fall 2025). We’re excited to see what they do next!
