Wade Wins Slavic Studies Award

The Southern Conference on Slavic Studies (SCSS) has named Rex Wade, Professor of History, as the recipient of its "Outstanding Service Award."  The award, which SCSS gives out very infrequently, was announced at the SCSS's 49th annual meeting in Alexandria, Virginia. The Service Award was in recognition of Rex's work for SCSS over many years--as SCSS president, as a member of the Executive Council, and as a workhorse on a variety of other SCSS committees.

Several years ago (2004), Rex received the SCSS's "Senior Scholar" award, which is also given only occasionally, when someone of special merit is identified by SCSS.  When he received the Outstanding Service Award, Rex became the only person to have received both of these awards.
