We are pleased to announce that Dr. Angela Ho will be joining the Art History faculty in the fall of 2011. Dr. Ho received her B.A. from the University of Sydney, her M.A. from Williams College, and her Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. Before coming to George Mason, She taught at the University of Tennessee and the University of Michigan. Her research focuses on European pictorial art and art theory from the fifteenth to the seventeenth century, with particular emphasis on the intersections between cultural consumption and social negotiation, and the shifting notions of originality and value in an increasingly complex art market. Her current book project examines the art collection in the seventeenth-century Dutch Republic as a site of artistic competition and explores the ways in which both artists and viewers constructed distinctive identities in that environment. At GMU Dr. Ho will teach courses on topics in European Renaissance and Baroque art.
