Section Information for Spring 2026
The pre-history and history of humanity on the Global scale is explored through lectures, peer-reviewed scholarship, and documentaries. There is no assigned textbook. There are no tests nor papers to write. The focus is upon reading. A goal is to quip you with tools for critical reading and for recognizing a sound argument. These tools are useful in two very important ways. Working with peer-reviewed scholarship is an expectation at the University level. In life after school, being able to discern the strength of an analysis is essential for navigating the content overload in which we live. Another goal is to show you how the past informs the present.
