Section Information for Spring 2026
This course will follow the political, economic, social, and cultural movements that over the past six centuries have shaped the world in which we now live. We shall devote special attention to the beliefs and values through which human beings have tried to make sense of who they are, what they think the world ought to be, and how they should order the lives of their communities to ensure a just society. This means that ours will be far more than a journey into the past or an exploration of current events. It will be a voyage of self-discovery.
