This course is focused on the interconnection of history and technology, specifically how twenty-first-century technologies can uncover patterns in historical sources and inform historical research practices. You’ll be learning about selected events in Virginia history with a special emphasis on the history of the Northern Virginia region, as well as how to create, analyze, and present historical data and scholarship on the web in many forms. We will use several different digital humanities-based tools and platforms, including Omeka, Voyant, Palladio, TimelineJS, StoryMapJS, and more.
