Section Information for Spring 2026
The "Age of Revolutions" encompasses the broad period ranging from the era of the American Revolution through the 1848 Revolutions in Europe, and includes the French Revolution, Haitian Revolutions, Irish Rebellion, and Latin American Revolutions. In consultation with the instructor, students will choose a topic on which to focus their research. Each student is expected to write an original paper of approximately 25 pages, based on their reading of primary sources and relevant secondary sources. Potential topics may include any issue of social, intellectual, or political significance, including issues related to women, gender, slavery, race, religion, trade, or diplomacy, either within a particular place or trans-nationally. Students are encouraged to contact the instructor prior to the first class meeting to discuss possible research topics.
