Section Information for Spring 2024
The purpose of this course is to provide doctoral students with an opportunity to do a substantial research paper in an area potentially related to their dissertation. Emphasis is placed on research in the primary sources and a review of the relevant secondary literature. A related goal is to introduce students to the norms, expectations, and ethical standards of professional historians. Students must discuss their topics with their dissertation directors PRIOR to the beginning of the semester and will be expected to submit a short description, along with an email from the dissertation director approving the project, BEFORE the first class. Please contact Prof. Zagarri (rzagarri@gmu.edu) for more information.
