Adeeb Khalid is Jane and Raphael Bernstein Professor of Asian Studies and History at Carleton College. He is the author of Islam after Communism: Religion and Politics in Central Asia (University of California Press, 2007). The book won the 2008 Wayne S. Vucinich Book Prize of the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies.

Khalid is also the author of The Politics of Muslim Cultural Reform: Jadidism in Central Asia. (University of California Press, 1998). He is currently a Distinguished Visiting Scholar in the John W. Kluge Center at the Library of Congress, where he is working on a book on Central Asia in the early Soviet period (1917-1932).
