Michael G. Chang, PhD, is an associate professor in the Department of History and Art History. He was the 2010-2011 Fenwick Fellow at George Mason University Libraries. Dr. Chang’s project, “Network Formation at the Imperial Court and the Making of Qing Rule in 18th-Century China, 1680-1820,” sets out to provide a better understanding of China’s pre-modern state during the Qing dynasty (1644-1911), focusing on the Qing court as an arena of political interaction and social network formation.

The annual Fenwick Fellow program assists research by faculty as well as enhances the collections of the University Libraries. The fellowship provides a $5,000 award for research materials and assistance, along with an office in the Fenwick Library, to support the research project. The competition is open to all tenured and tenure-track faculty members at George Mason University.

Light refreshments served. For more information, please call Debra Hogan at 703-993-2491.
