This course will address America’s Vietnam War, including Vietnamese history and culture, French colonialism, American foreign policy in the Cold War, Chinese-Vietnamese relations, American and Vietnamese strategy, the antiwar movement, Vietnamization, and aspects of the war’s aftermath in Vietnam and the US. The course will combine readings, lecture, documentary films, and discussions. Skills developed in the course include formal and informal writing, textual analysis, public speaking, and critical thinking.
