BA in Art History

Silas Fransen, 2026

Silas Fransen

Degree: BA in Art History

Hometown: Front Royal, Virginia

Future plans: After graduation, Silas will take a gap year before applying to graduate programs for Fall 2027.

Graduating with a BA in Art History, Silas’ most impactful experience at George Mason was curating the "Fountain of Truth: Women Artists and Their Perspectives on Aging" exhibit. The exhibition brought together five artists from the Northern Virginia area to explore their relationships with aging. Funded through OSCAR’s Undergraduate Research Scholars Program, he collaborated with the George Mason Exhibitions team to organize the show. Under Associate Professor LaNitra Berger’s mentorship, he gained valuable insight into the process of organizing and curating an exhibit. Through this experience—working with dedicated faculty and connecting with the featured artists—he found the opportunity to be incredibly rewarding.

Advice for future Patriots: "Your ideas have value; it is important that you act on them. There will never be a perfect time to take on a new project or challenge."
