College Prepares for May 2013 Convocations

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences is looking forward to honoring the graduating class of 2013 this May.

This year, the college plans to create a more personal experience for its graduates and their guests by dividing the graduating class between three separate convocation ceremonies.

The three ceremonies are free of charge and each will be located in the Patriot Center. No tickets are required to attend any of the convocations. The university commencement will take place on Saturday, May 18, at 10 a.m.

The convocation schedule is as follows:

Graduate Convocation

  • Wednesday, May 15, 7 p.m., Patriot Center

Undergraduate Convocation (Humanities and Interdisciplinary Programs)

  • Thursday, May 16, 7 p.m., Patriot Center

Undergraduate Convocation (Social Sciences)

  • Friday, May 17, 10 a.m., Patriot Center

"This convocation arrangement will allow our students, and their families, friends and honored guests, to thoroughly enjoy this special moment in their lives, in a shorter, sweeter format," said Van Vu, the college's development and events coordinator. "With the smaller number of students at each convocation, we believe that each ceremony will be much more memorable for all involved."
