In this class we will explore the arts and archeology of medieval England, from Anglo-Saxon times through the Gothic era. Class lectures on art and architecture will be enriched by readings in primary and secondary sources, current archeology, films, and comparisons to medieval literature and theatre. Papers will be based on visits to local museums. There is no prerequisite beyond sophomore standing.

General Education note: ARTH 335 fulfills the three-credit Arts requirement for the University’s General Education program.
