Sustaining and Expanding Opportunities

The Art History program continues to expand. We create an intellectual haven for the creative and professional advancement of our students to prepare them to enter a wide variety of occupations. We are successful in part because of the financial generosity of our alumni.

We have exciting new opportunities on the horizon that will help students evolve in the 21st century workplace. This includes the opportunity to help sponsor an upcoming student project collaboration with the Art Museum of the Americas and Mason’s Art History program. Dr. Greet has established a partnership between the department and the museum, located in Washington, D.C. The museum has agreed to allow one of her classes to curate an exhibition using objects in their extensive collection of modern Latin American art. The show will take place in the Fine Arts Gallery on Mason’s Fairfax campus in April, 2017 and then travel to the Art Museum of the Americas.

To make this event a success, we require outside funding to offset its costs. We have set a goal of $5,000 for this exhibit, please consider helping our Mason students achieve this exciting goal!

Sponsors can also become involved in other ways. For example, please consider giving to our Student Research and Travel Fund, which provides financial support for our advanced students conducting research in museums outside of the Washington, D.C., area. Students will not only work with real objects in world-class museums, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, but will gain the opportunity to network with internationally recognized experts. This provides our students with extensive career opportunities, ever vital to the competitive job market.
