Anne Champlin

Graduate Research Assistant

Anne Champlin is a historian and PhD student in Global History at George Mason University, where she is focusing on the inter-imperial Atlantic between 1730 and 1850, with particular interest in the Danish West Indies. Her work explores how overlapping empires shaped sovereignty, mobility, and resistance in the early modern Atlantic world. She currently serves as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Center for Mason Legacies and has been a Graduate Teaching Assistant for Global History and Western Civilization. Before entering academia, Anne held senior roles in nonprofit strategy and digital communications, including serving as Chief Organizing Officer at Hope Street Group, and earlier directing digital engagement campaigns for mission-driven organizations. She is also active in public history, serving on the Board of Trustees for the Loudoun Museum, contributing to archival transcription for the Danish National Archives, and previously supporting visitor engagement at Stanford University’s Cantor Arts Center. 

Education

Anne holds an MA in World History from George Mason University, an MA in International Communication from American University’s School of International Service, and a BA in International Studies and Economics from American University.
