American Religion; History of Early New England; Mormonism

John Turner teaches and writes about the the place of religion in American history. Prof. Turner holds a Ph.D. in American History from the University of Notre Dame and a Masters of Divinity from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.

Prof. Turner is the author of several books about the history of religion in the United States, mostly recently The Mormon Jesus: A Biography, published in 2016. 

He is currently writing a history of Plymouth Colony, to appear in 2020 in conjunction with the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower crossing.
