Kimberly Shaw

U.S. History: Military History, Congressional History, National Security & Defense Policy

Kimberly is a first year PhD student in History following a career in national security working on policy, strategy, political-military affairs, and legislative affairs for the Department of Defense and and as a professional staff member for the House Armed Services Committee. Her research examines congressional oversight of the military, focusing on how Congress has shaped defense policy and civil-military relations, building on her graduate work examining House and Senate Armed Services Committee oversight of the Department of Defense's response to the improvised explosive device threat and, separately, its oversight of defense contracting during the Global War on Terror. She currently serves as a graduate teaching assistant in the department for HIST 125 Intro to World History courses.
