For his research paper: ‘“A Countrey That Wants Nothing but Inhabitants”: George Mason and the Ohio Company of Virginia, 1747-1778’
Stephen Barr is a special education teacher at DC Public Schools with a passion for the complexities of history. He earned his M.Ed. in Social Studies Education from the University of Minnesota and his M.A. in History from George Mason University. Stephen currently lives in Virginia with his wife and daughter. Together, they enjoy exploring the rich history of Virginia and its impact on our current world.
The Friends of Historic Huntley award is given each year for the most outstanding research paper relating to the history of the Mason family. The award is funded by the Friends of Historic Huntley organization.
