So what are you up to now professionally?

At the moment I am working as a Visitor Services Associate at the Virginia Historical Society but I will be attending the University of Iowa this coming fall for a masters degree in Art History with a focus in African art.

How do you think your History major at Mason prepared you for your career?

My History major at Mason prepared me for my career because I had amazing professors like Dr. Berger, Dr. Carton, and Dr. Manuel-Scott who taught me how to be a strong writer, provided information that is relevant to my field, and constantly challenged me to be better both in and out of the classroom.

Why did you choose History as a major in the first place?

I chose History because I always gravitated towards it growing up but it became clear that I wanted to major in the subject after I took AP US History in high school and had a wonderful teacher, Mrs. Tran, who made every class exciting. She truly changed my life.

Any advice you'd like to give to current Mason students?

My advice Mason students is to establish close connections to staff and faculty and take every opportunity they present to you. Your professors at George Mason have your best interests at heart so I would take their guidance seriously.
