Section Information for Spring 2012
This course examines women artists, their quest for professionalization, their interactions with a variety of media, and with the onset of modernism, their representational strategies in the arts, and their negotiations within personal lives as they confront the social, cultural, and institutional changes in these decades. We will think historically and historiographically about these issues in American art by looking at recent literature on women artists alongside a series of primary documents and case studies.View 1 Other Section of this Course in this Semester »
