Awarded to a graduate student who has an excellent academic record and has an interest in the Civil war era and/or women's history.
Rebecca Schgallis is completing a master’s of arts in history with a specialization in American history and additional coursework in twentieth century German history. Her research has focused on American antisemitism at the turn of the twentieth century. Rebecca has an undergraduate degree in religion, history, and philosophy, and a master’s of science in social studies education. While teaching high school history in New York, the New York State Council for the Social Studies named her the most promising teacher of the year. In Virginia, she taught history, religion, and government at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology where she was also the department chair for the Humanities Department.
