The Robert K. Hedrick, Jr. Endowed Scholarship was established in 1999 by Robert Kenny Hedrick, Jr., BA ’71, with special acknowledgement of Dr. Josephine F. Pacheco, who was a faculty member in the Department of History and Art History. The fund supports scholarships for full-time undergraduates earning a degree in History or Art History.
Nickie Johnson is currently a senior at George Mason University. She was raised a few miles away from the Fairfax campus in Clifton, Virginia. She has always loved studying history, and since starting at Mason, she has realized her favorite areas of history to study are military history and sports history. In the future, she plans on pursuing a master's degree in a field related to secondary education.
Nathan Walton is currently a second semester junior at GMU. He is majoring in history with a minor in Korean Studies. In his three years at Mason, he has rediscovered his love of learning and taken his pursuit of historical studies to the next level. He studied abroad in Korea for two semesters and also took multiple courses for exchange programs in both Korean and history. He plans on graduating in the spring of 2023, and is contemplating either applying for graduate school to study history/Korean history or finding a position on a history and legacy team in the government sector.
