Presented to an outstanding graduate student nominated by the faculty.
Cassandra is currently a second-year student in GMU’s doctoral program in history. She is from Virginia, and graduated in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in history from Bryan College. She earned her master’s degree in history from Old Dominion University in 1999. Cassandra is currently employed as the Senior Map Archivist at the Library of Virginia in Richmond, Va., and hopes to be able to work in the academic setting or as a curator for a significant early American collection or map collection. She wants to be able to pass on what she’s learned to others whether that be in writing or in front of the classroom (virtual or traditional). Cassandra is interested in the intersection of imperialism, mapping, and views of British American colonies and how the British diffused knowledge about them.
