Michael Pinkerton

History

Born and raised in Northern Virginia and currently a junior here at George Mason University after transferring from Northern Virginia Community College this past summer. Mike is a U.S. history major and an American government minor who’s looking to work their way into the bachelor’s with accelerated master’s program for education and social sciences. Mike has been working in kitchens for the past 12 years of his life and decided to return to school two years ago. He is the sous chef at Army Navy Country Club in Arlington, VA. Obviously, he loves to cook, but eating is awesome too! Besides cooking, Mike loves his D.C. area sports teams (go Football Team!), working out when he has the time and enjoying a lazy Sunday's now that those are off days. Mike’s interest in history really began after a research project on his family name in high school. The connection with the past was really something special. History always seemed to be black and white photos of a distant past that was never relatable, until he traced his family's history.
